Walking on a Paper Moon\, by Lorelai Kaplan and Eleanor Edlefsen\, will premiere on January 10th and run through January 19th. \nWalking on a Paper Moon is a one-act play about a father and his daughters coping with grief while watching the first moon landing. Knowing their play would be presented as part of a full evening of theatre alongside an adaptation of King Lear\, writers Kaplan and Edlefsen set out to explore the intricacies of family relationships through a more contemporary lens. \nBoth Kaplan and Edlefsen are active theatre artists in the Puget Sound region. In addition to being writers and board members of The 14/48 Projects’s High School festival\, they have acted in many school productions. Walking on a Paper Moon is the first longer play they have written and their first time writing as a team. \nPeter Temes\, who is the artistic director of Baker Theater Workshop\, directs the world premiere of Walking on a Paper Moon. Playwrights Kaplan and Edlefsen also act within their own show. Rounding out the cast are Cassondra Parkerson and Ken Knight\, both Baker Theater company members. \nWalking on a Paper Moon will be presented alongside another one-act\, Lear (alone)\, an adaptation of the Shakespearean tragedy. Continuing Baker’s dramatic explorations of King Lear\, this one-act piece focuses on the original play’s third act\, with Lear alone in the wilderness and slowly descending into madness. Although Lear (alone) mostly draws upon the Shakespearean text\, Baker Theater’s reimagining also presents some added contemporary elements\, such as the presence of a narrator\, to help guide a modern audience’s experience. \nPeter Temes directs Lear (alone) with Andrew Weiss as assistant director. The cast features the local talents of Eric Newman\, Melissa Takai\, Cassondra Parkerson\, Jason Marr\, Jane Cater\, and Peter Temes. \nWalking on a Paper Moon and Lear (alone) open January 10th at the ReAct Theatre in Pioneer Square. There will be additional performances on January 17th\, 18th\, and 19th. All tickets are free as part of Baker’s commitment to making quality art affordable to all while paying members of the creative team high stipends. \nShow Dates:\nSaturday January 10th 7pm\nSaturday January 17th 7pm\nSunday January 18th 4pm\nMonday January 19th 4pm \nLocation:\nReAct Theatre\n562 1st Avenue South #400\nSeattle\, WA 98104 \nTickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/two-new-plays-lear-alone-and-walking-on-a-paper-moon-tickets-1974426474736 URL:https://theatrepugetsound.org/event/lear-alone-walking-on-a-paper-moon/2026-01-10/ LOCATION:ReAct Studios\, 562 1st Ave S\, Seattle\, WA\, 98104\, United States CATEGORIES:Drama,New Work ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://theatrepugetsound.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/https___cdn.evbuc_.com_images_1171361668_606557053683_1_original.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20260110T100000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20260111T200000 DTSTAMP:20260114T071312 CREATED:20251222T204956Z LAST-MODIFIED:20251222T204959Z UID:10004015-1768039200-1768161600@theatrepugetsound.org SUMMARY:TPS Headshot Days DESCRIPTION:The TPS Unified General Auditions are coming up from February 23rd – 27th\, so now is the perfect time to update your look and make a powerful first impression. \n\n\n\nThis is truly one of the best deals we offer for TPS Members: just $100 (compared to $140 for non-members!). \n\n\n\nWhat’s included: \n\n\n\n\n15-minute session\n\n\n\nOne look\n\n\n\nTwo backdrops\n\n\n\nA preview gallery of all your images\n\n\n\nTwo final photos\, professionally retouched and delivered as high-resolution and web-ready files\n\n\n\n\nWe’re also offering FREE drop-in / waitlist headshots for college students!
