The only surviving commander of the massacre\, now elderly\, arrives at the site decades later to receive an award for his part in the founding of the State of Israel. But what he finds is a young Israeli psychiatrist who contradicts his memories and a Palestinian woman and her father who may or may not be survivors of the massacre. There are layered conversations and confrontations\, as the action builds to a stunning revelation–an act of radical compassion–just minutes before the end. The play delivers a profoundly relevant narrative of atrocity\, human relationships\, and hope. Palestinian playwright Hanna Eady states\, “Through remembrance\, storytelling\, and resistance\, the play demonstrates the essence of sumud\, or steadfastness. This is not a passive quality\, but an active one that perseveres through attempts to silence historical truths.” URL:https://theatrepugetsound.org/event/almonds-blossom-in-deir-yassin/2025-10-25/ LOCATION:Cherry Street Village\, 720 25th Ave\, Seattle\, WA 98122\, Seattle\, WA\, 98122\, United States CATEGORIES:Drama,New Work ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://theatrepugetsound.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Amal-and-Zidan-lg-size.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20251101T140000 DTEND;TZID=America/Los_Angeles:20251101T163000 DTSTAMP:20260114T074609 CREATED:20250801T165915Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250801T165915Z UID:10002145-1762005600-1762014600@theatrepugetsound.org SUMMARY:Shrew DESCRIPTION:Girl meets boy.
