The Gregory Awards began life in 1998 as the Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. Over the following 11 years, it honored individuals who spent much of their careers strengthening theatre in our region. In 2009, while continuing this tradition, TPS added six annual categories and incorporated the Gregory Falls Sustained Achievement award into the first official Gregory Awards, which were presented at a gala event on October 19, 2009 at the Intiman Theatre.
The Gregory Awards are a way for the Performing Arts community of the Puget Sound to celebrate the outstanding work being done each year.
The Gregory Awards program is a year-long process of nominators being assigned to, attending and nominating shows in the different categories that have been entered for consideration. Nominations are collected, finalists are selected, and the active membership of Theatre Puget Sound then has an opportunity to vote to award outstanding work in our community.

Shows & Nominators
Member Organizations of Theatre Puget Sound are encouraged to enter their productions for consideration. Submissions include selection of which Award Category the entering organization wishes the production to be considered in. It is at this point that the producing company will also provide ticketing details for nominators to attend the shows.
Nominators apply for selection and if approved are assigned to attend and assess productions that have been entered for consideration. Once the season of shows has concluded (Annually the weekend prior to Labor Day), the resulting nominations are collected and the top 5 scoring productions within each category become the Nominees of that year's Gregory Awards.
People's Choice
People’s Choice voting happens annually to celebrate outstanding productions and organizations in each region. TPS Members are encouraged to submit a nomination for the organization they believe should be honored with the Regional Organization of the Year award. These votes will be taken into consideration to determine who will be named as the recipient of the award in each of the 5 different Puget Sound regions.
Additionally, members of Theatre Puget Sound will have an opportunity to submit their "People's Choice" vote on the top 5 nominees in select categories. Information on when and how to vote for the coming season celebration will be shared in the weeks prior to the celebration in October.
Gregory Award Season
Gregory Award Seasons run from Labor Day to Labor Day each year. Members are welcome to continue submitting their productions with performance dates running up to the weekend of Labor Day each year for consideration in that season.
