The Costume Shop Manager is responsible for the overall operation and progress of the costume production shop, including working with renderings and drawings, and supervises the build of all required costume elements. This position works closely with show directors and designers to reach artistic goals within allotted resources.

Experience in costume care and construction. Experience in Theatrical Costume Design. Experience in budget, facilities, and equipment management.
No medical benefits for this position. Sick leave will accrue at a rate of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, train (if necessary), support and supervise all volunteers for each production of the season
Help to plan long-range strategies for operations and facilities
Ensure safety standards in operations and equipment
Attend specified rehearsals, tech/dress rehearsals, and production meetings
Discuss and understand production concepts with designers, directors, and the Creative Team
In conjunction with the Director of Production, help to create and oversee the annual budget for the Costume Shop
Assist designers with staying within prescribed budgets for each show
Draft patterns and drawings to execute designs
Purchase all Costume Shop materials not related to individual show budgets
Plan, schedule, and supervise costume construction, costume load-in, tech, run, and strike and dry cleaning of all productions
Work closely with the designer and wardrobe manager for each production to develop a maintenance plan for the run of each show
Supervise the servicing and maintenance of costume shop equipment
Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean work/shop/theatre environment
Use costume shop machinery accurately and effectively
Maintain and organize costume shop storage
Supervise the rental and loans of costumes from Harlequin’s stock to outside organizations
Other duties as assigned
